London Graduate Fair

The Careers Group are running their graduate fair on Tuesday 21st October 2008 at the Business Design Centre in London. There will be seminars, workshops and CV advice as well as over 80 employers recruiting. If you pre-register for the event you can win an iPhone. National Graduate Recruitment Exhibition

The National Graduate Recruitment Exhibition is being held at Olympia 2 in London on 10th and 11th October 2008. There is the opportunity to meet potential employers, see company presentations, get CV advice and psychometric testing. Admission is free and full time students can claim for subsidised transport. National Work Placement Exhibition

The National Work Placement Exhibition is being held at Olympia 2 in London on 9th October. Many recruiters are looking to place students on their internships and placement schemes. Thouron Awards for Postgraduate Study: University of Pennsylvania

Up to ten Thouron Awards are available for British citizens wishing to study postgraduate courses at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. The awards are for one or two years and cover tuition fees, a travel grant and a monthly stipend with a total annual value of over $70,000. Details of courses available can be found at the university's website. To be eligible you must be a British citizen who is currently resident in the UK and has followed a UK secondary education. The closing date for applications is 3rd November 2008 and further details of the awards can be found here

Banking on Potential Event

Employment Opportunities is a national charity working to create routes to employment for people with all forms of disability or medical conditions. They have organised the Banking on Potential for disabled students who are interested in a career in investment banking. The event takes place on 29th October and will give students the opportunity to meet representatives from top City Investment Banks. Entry is by invitation only, for details on how to apply go here

Lincoln's Inn Scolarships

Lincoln's Inn is offering a variety of scholarships, bursaries, awards and prizes to candidates of merit to assist them throughout their CPE, BVC or pupillage years. For 2009-2010 the total value of awards has been increased to £1,287,000. See the Lincoln's Inn website for a full list of scholarships, their closing dates and eligibilities

Colt Foundation Fellowhips

The Colt Foundation is particularly interested into the causes of disease of occupational or environmental origin. Grants are available to students whose subject is relevant to this field. The stipend rate for the first year is £12,000 (£13,000 inside London) and rises with interest. The closing date for applications is 20th October and further information can be found on the Colt Foundation website

Kennedy Scholarships: Harvard and MIT

There are eight to ten scholarships awarded for 2009-2010 postgraduate study at Harvard University and the Massachussetts Institute of Technology. These cover tuition, health fees, and travel to and from the USA as well as an allowance of $22,000. Applicants must be British citizens who have spent at least two of the last four years at a UK university and will graduate by 2009. Further information can be found here . Applications must be submitted through the head of the candidate's university and the deadline is 20th October 2008

Goverment Economic Service Open Day

The GES is organizing an open day on Friday 24th October in London. It is aimed specifically at students who are interested in careers as fast stream government economists and includes details about the application process as well as giving students the opportunity to talk to economists from a range of government departments. Graduate Select: Jobs Fair

Graduate Select are holding a recruitment fair for finance, consultancy and IT jobs on Monday 13th October 12 - 6pm at the Business Design Centre in London. There will be free CV and application form checks and a career coaching session. Entrance is free but by invitation only, check out their website for further details

Women in Media Conference

Wired Sussex are running a one day conference for women in media on Friday 24th October 2008. This year's focus is on digital media, with brilliant speakers from games, TV, music and the web. Tickets are just £10 as an early bird offer for students booking before the end of September. More information and tickets can be found online

Concordia Open Afternoon

Concordia are holding an open afternoon on Wednesday 8th October 2008 at their Portslade office at 19 North Street. You can find out more about the opportunities they offer in international volunteering and chat to volunteers. It runs from 12 - 5pm and refreshments will be provided

KPMG Online Careers Fair

On 24 - 26 September 2008 KPMG will be running a global online jobs fair. It will give students the opportunity to:
* interact with KPMG people and recruiters from around the world
* search hundreds of KPMG jobs from over 40 countries
* watch videos and take part in live question & answer sessions

Getting in to publishing: Penguin Open Day

Penguin are holding an open day on Thursday 20th November 10am - 2pm at 80 Strand, London. It's a brilliant opportunity for students and graduates, particularly those from ethnic minority backgrounds, to find out all about Penguin and more about a career in Publishing. The day consists of morning and afternoon presentations from senior employees of the company and a networking lunch in the afternoon where candidates have the opportunity to meet senior managers of the company. CDEC Library

A full list of books available in CDEC is now available to peruse at Shelfari. As we have recently updated much of our collection we are giving away loads of older editions of books. These include guides to working and volunteering abroad, directories of publishers and media companies, information on city law firms and many more subjects. The books are available to take away in the entrance to CDEC in Falmer House

Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships - Harvard University

There are five fellowships available to postgraduate students from the UK to study at Harvard. The competition is open to British citizens who have spent at least two of the last four years at a UK university and will graduate in 2009. Some people who have graduated not earlier than 2007 are also eligible. Further information about the fellowships can be found here. Applications must be submitted through the head of the candidate's university and the deadline is 27th October 2008

i-design 08 Portfolio Clinic

The i-design 08 Portfolio Clinic is running on the 17th September 2008 from 4 - 6pm at the South Bank Centre as part of the London Design Festival. The clinic is free to attend and offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to make industry contacts, find work and internships and have their work critiqued by senior creatives
