Open Day at Concordia

On Wednesday 1st July 2009 Concordia is having an open afternoon at their office on North Street, Portslade between 12 and 5pm. Pop in to have a chat about volunteering opportunities abroad with the staff and volunteers; this is a great opportunity to enquire about the new 2009 Summer Programme just released. 29th June – 17th July 2009, Mon – Fri: 10 - 5, closed 1 - 2, Careers Advisers available 2 - 4.

20th July – 14th August 2009, Mon – Fri: 2 - 5, Careers Advisers available 2 - 4.

We are closed during graduation on 22nd, 23rd and 24th July.

CLOSED: 17th – 31th August 2009

28th September onwards open as term time.

APG Young Talent Award

Account Planning Group are asking students to design, from scratch, an original brand that will appeal to people of their age group. The judges will be experts from the leading advertising agencies, and a venture capitalist looking to invest in the best new ideas. The authors of the ten shortlisted papers will be invited to the prestigious APG Awards in London in October where trophies will be awarded. All short-listed papers will also be published in Campaign, the advertising sector's leading trade magazine. Entries should be 1,000 words maximum. Closing date is 26th June 2009. Details here.

IPA Creative Summer School Competition

If you want to be an advertising copywriter, check out the IPA Copy Test website (click on 'new user?' for details). You will have to answer 6 randomly generated questions in an hour.

Then you can choose to submit your entry into the IPA Creative Summer School competition, with the opportunity to win a placement, either as a copywriter or as part of a creative team, over the summer. Or you can choose to submit your entry to a Copy Showcase, where it will be stored for one year. IPA members will then be able to access and consider your entry should any creative writing opportunities come up at member organisations and agencies.

The placement will run for 5 weeks (6th July-10th September). The deadline for entry is 12th June and the competition is open to second and third years and recent graduates. Students will receive £500 on completion of the placement.
