Bunkers Solicitors in Hove are looking for a Legal Assistant to support their litigation and employment teams. Responsibilities will include liaising with clients, letter writing, note taking and legal research. Applicants should have knowledge of the legal and procedural aspects of a varied litigation and employment caseload. Undergraduate of the Year Awards
TARGETjobs is launching a national Awards competition to identify outstanding undergraduates from a range of degree subjects across the UK's top universities. Sussex Plus Workshadowing
The Sussex Plus workshadowing placements are now live on the Careers and Employability Centre website. It is an excellent opportunity to spend a day with someone who’s in a career that interests you. This year the organisations taking part include the BBC, The Electoral Commission, DMH Stallard and the Institute of Cancer Research.
Initially, it is open to 2nd Year/Penultimate Year undergraduates only. You can apply for up to two opportunities and the deadline is 3rd February 2010

Sussex Postgraduate Open Day
Sussex's 2010 Postgraduate Open Day will take place on Wednesday 27 January 2010, 11.30am - 2.00pm in Bramber House on the University campus . The Open Day provides an ideal opportunity to find out more about postgraduate study at Sussex including advice on how a postgraduate degree can improve your career prospects. Information on the day's activities and events and a booking form can be found on the website.

There will be an open day at Southlands Hospital in Shoreham, 9:15-12:00, 22 January 2010 aimed at anyone interested in occupational therapy as a career. The morning includes presentations from Occupational Therapists working in physical, mental health and learning disabilities settings, an opportunity to see the practical work they do and information about relevant courses at Brighton University. Getting into International Development Course

Opening Times This Week 11-15th January
The Careers and Employability Centre is back to our usual opening hours this week. The information centre is too cold to use so please come to room 185 in the Careers and Employability Centre with all your careers information enquiries.
We are running short appointments as usual for term time. We hold 20 minute short careers interviews every weekday between 12:00 and 16:00 and on Wednesday evening between 17:00 and 19:00. We cannot make appointments in advance or by email so please call us after 10:00 on 01273 678429 for a same day drop in appointment.
UPDATE: There will be no late opening on Wednesday 13 January 2010.

Free Journalism Workshops
Aspiring reporters interested in a career in newspapers or magazines can enrol on a free journalism workshop held at the newsroom of national press agency News Associates. The three hour session will get you working on your own stories and there will be a chance to meet News Associates professionals. Attendees will get individual feedback and career advice.
The London sessions will be held on Fridays 10.30 am - 1.30 pm on 15 January, 12 February, 26 March, 23 April, 21 May, and 25 June 2010. The venue is Tuition House, St George's Road, SW19 4EU and there are also workshops in Manchester. Spaces are limited so please email scolebrooke@newsassociates.co.uk to reserve you place.
