Brighton Journalist Works are running a free journalism workshop on Monday 5 July 2010 where you can find out everything that you need to know about starting a career in journalism. At the workshop you will learn how to write a news story, get tips and feedback from, and learn how to start your journalism career. Experience a day in the life of a journalist and decide whether a career in journalism is the correct path for you.
Journalist Works is based in the office of Brighton’s daily newspaper, The Argus, and you will go on a tour of the Argus newsroom. A further workshop will be available in September. Investment banking event for female first years
Fresh Look is an informal event which sets out to raise awareness of the different sorts of careers available within investment banking for candidates from all academic disciplines. This will involve a mixture of presentations, panel discussions and personal networking. Open to all first year female students, the event takes place in central London on 21 July 2010 and if students are travelling from outside the M25, travel expenses will be reimbursed. Sustainable Careers event
Sustainable Careers Explored is taking place on 14 July 2010 at the Old Ship Hotel, Brighton. It's aimed at companies, job seekers, students and individuals interested in a career in sustainable construction, low carbon technologies, energy efficiency and renewables. The presentations will explore the opportunities arising in careers across a wide spectrum of industries, with insights from key professionals working in all aspects of sustainability

Free coaching from Logica senior managers
Will you be looking for employment in 2011? Logica are offering free employability skills coaching. Logica is a business and technology service company, employing 39,000 people across 36 countries. Senior managers are looking to hone their skills by offering coaching to undergraduates and postgraduates at no cost, specifically focused on helping you with your search for employment. Courses include: poverty, inequalities and health, climate change and health and the relationship between disease, globalisation and global governance.
The course is a full time, one year modular taught course, although a part-time option is available.

It's Volunteers Week 1-7 June celebrating the contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK. The Week plays a huge part in raising the profile of volunteers who regularly contribute to society, while inspiring others to get involved too.

It's also worth calling in to Project V, Sussex's community volunteering scheme as they have lots of summer projects available. It's based in the USSU Activities Centre round the corner from the Careers and Employability Centre in Falmer House.

Channel 4 - Journalism Trainee Scheme Bursary

Channel 4 in conjunction with City University London are offering a great opportunity for budding journalists.
