Top Tips: Early Deadlines

If you know what you want to do, start looking now. If you want to get into finance there are lots of pre-Christmas deadlines. The same with advertising. If you are interested in the public sector, there are November deadlines for Fast Stream Civil Service and NHS Management, amongst others. Check CDEC’s Jobs for Finalists and our list of other jobs sites. Some sites list jobs by deadline (Milkround, Inside Careers)

Don’t panic! You may be able to register for email updates or subscribe to RSS feeds for the latest jobs in your chosen sector/s (Targetjobs), so you won’t miss out. Don’t take a scattergun approach and start applying for everything. It’s better to spend some time working out what you want to do, and researching employers, then make a few quality applications

Society of Young Pubishers Conference

The Society of Young Publishers is running a conference on Saturday 22nd November 2008 in central London. This event offers students the opportunity to get a feel for the publishing world and meet a variety of experienced industry professionals. Entry is £35 and more information can be found online

Natives Ski Season Jobs Fair

Natives.co.uk are running a Jobs Fair on 25th October 2008 where you will be able to look for work at ski resorts across Europe for this winter and beyond. The event takes place in the Novotel West London in Hammersmith W6. More information can be found here

Stonewall Recruitment Guide Launch

Stonewall will be launching the new edition of their lesbian and gay recruitment guide on Thursday 30th October 2008 at the University of London Union, Malet Street, WC1. The guide lists more than 325 gay-friendly employers plus general advice on jobseeking. There will be free wine, a copy of the guide and a goodie bag for attendees. Built Environment Virtual Gradfair

There is a virtual gradfair for careers in the built environment 10th - 12th November 2008. There will be interactive seminars, job and work experience vacancies and an opportunity to network with employers, graduates and other students. See www.virtualgradfair.com for more information

Anglo-Danish Society Scholarships 2009/10

The Anglo-Danish Society offer scholarships for British students undertaking post-graduate courses in an approved Danish university. The scholarships run for a period of up to six months from the beginning of the academic year and are worth at least £1,500. Closing date for return of completed applications is 1st March 2009

Future Vision 09

Future Vision 09 is an awards scheme to find ideas for better places to live, work and play. Participating students could win £1000, work placements and a chance to present their ideas to industry. Closing date is 30th April 2009, see www.futurevisionaward.com for more details
